Impact of glucocorticoid receptor gene Bcl-1 variant on temporomandibular disorders
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objectives: Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) constitute a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by alterations in mandibular movement. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the Bcl1 variant of NR3C1 gene and TMD susceptibility in Turkish population. Method: NR3C1 gene BcI1 variant of 100 TMD patients and 105 healthy controls was genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method (PCR-RFLP). Results: There was also no significant difference in regard to genotype and allele frequencies between the patients and the controls (OR 0.216 (95% Cl: 0.85-2.04); p=0.216). However, present study found that numeric pain rating scale was higher in patients with CC and CG genotypes. Discussion: Although the NR3C1 Bcl1 variant did not show any difference between the TMD and the control groups, we thought that this variant could be correlated with pain intensity in patients. Further studies with different ethnic subjects are needed to confirm the results.

The variant N363S of glucocorticoid receptor in steroid-induced ocular hypertension in Hungarian patients treated with photorefractive keratectomy
PURPOSE Variation in sensitivity to glucocorticoids observed in healthy population is influenced by genetic polymorphisms of the glucocorticoid receptor gene (NR3C1). N363S, ER22/23EK, and Bcl I have been previously described as glucocorticoid-sensitivity modulating polymorphisms. We investigated whether these variants may contribute to steroid-induced ocular hypertension and if they play a rol...
متن کاملInfluence of Bcl-1 gene polymorphism of glucocortucoid receptor on phenotypic expressions of bronchial asthma
Bronchial asthma (BA) is a chronic polyetiologic disease, which is determined by many environmental and genetic factors. The clinical picture occurs as a result of complex interactions among genes, and mutual influence of a genotype and environment upon each other. One of the genes involved in the pathogenesis of BA is NR3C1; its official name is a nuclear receptor subfamily 3, group C, member ...
متن کاملA comprehensive review on vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphism in immune-related diseases with emphasis on dermatologic disorders
There are many immune mediated disorders with the corroborated role of vitamin D or Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms in their pathogenesis, immunologic regulation, and disease characteristics. Therefore, in this review, we searched PubMed data base in regard to the role of VDR gene polymorphisms in common autoimmune disorders, emphasizing on dermatologic diseases.
متن کاملGlucocorticoid receptor mutants demonstrate increased motility inside the nucleus of living cells: time of fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) is an integrated measure of receptor function.
Natural mutations of the human glucocorticoid receptor (GR) isoform alpha cause the glucocorticoid resistance syndrome. Mutant receptors may have abnormal interactions with the ligand, target DNA sequences, and/or multiple intracellular proteins, as well as aberrant nucleocytoplasmic trafficking. Using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) analysis, all GR pathologic mutant receptor...
